Hello, welcome to our little bio page! Here is our story:
Jana and I come from totally different backgrounds. She comes from a non-church background, and I come from a heavy church background (which means I was dragged to church as a kid). Both of us come from divorced families, so we, like so many others, have experienced the reality of a broken home.
Jana and I met at Bible school where it was love at first sight. Actually, it was for me, but not for her--though it did not take her long to be captivated by my charm and muscular physique (I wish that was true).
We were married just a month after my graduation from BibleCollege, and six months after that, we entered into church ministry.
If I'm honest, I was hesitant to be a "minister.” I had seen the ugly side of religion and really didn't want anything to do with "those" people. But as I grew in my relationship with God and found fulfillment in following His call on my life, then I could truly serve God in true freedom. Free from the religious crud that keeps so many people away from church by the thousands! Jana also had similar reservations about being a "pastor's wife,” so that is why I told her I was going to be a country singer (she likes country) so she would marry me! :)
Anyway, we do our best to live a life that is a reflection of Jesus by LOVING GOD, LOVING PEOPLE and ENJOYING LIFE. We believe God is a good God, as the Bible says in Romans 2:4b, "it's the GOODNESS of God that leads people to repentance." It's not the harsh, mean judgment that some religious folk pander. Who am I to judge anyone? Sadly, this is too often a part of “Christianity,” and it doesn't belong!
Even though I am a pastor, I am just like everyone else. I face struggles, doubts and have questions like you. We've learned over the years that God is gracious and merciful and He understands. And He believes in you! We love to laugh...a lot! We believe life is challenging enough without us being too serious. That is why we are light-hearted in personality, yet still very serious and committed to the task of leading people to Christ.
We have a lot of fun, love the outdoors, and couldn't wait to get back to Kansas. We love spending time with family and enjoy riding motorcycles, and still enjoy listening to talk radio – Car Talk, and What Do You Know. We also like to watch movies; Jana especially likes the old flicks with Gene Kelly and Fred Astaire (I do as well - though I am a sucker for the "tough guy" action movies - like who can forget Patriot with Mel Gibson). We enjoy reading. We try to eat as healthy as possible and exercise often. We enjoy and play most all sports. In high school Jana was a cowgirl, and I was a break dancer (don't tell anyone about that!). Jana was and is a great dancer; she was in several Christian music videos back in the mid-90's (you'll have to ask her which ones).
That's us in a nutshell. We are looking forward to ENJOYING LIFE TOGETHER with YOU!!
